Totally Fun and Totally Easy to Make DIY String Art Menorah

DIY string art menorah for Hanukah

If you think Christmas trees get to have all the kitschy fun, think again.  Hanukkah can get just as fun and funky with a String Art Menorah.  Last year I shared 10 Easy-to-Make and Totally Fun DIY Menorahs on DIY Network, this year I’m giving you the low down on how to make one of my favorites.

Supplies

  • Piece of wood
  • Small nails
  • Embroidery floss
  • Hammer
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Teal and yellow string

Start by drawing your template onto the wood using a ruler.  You make the shapes of your candle any way you want as long as they all fit on the piece of wood.  Mark even spaces using your ruler where you nails will go.  Use a hammer to attach your nails.  Do not hammer them in all the way, try to hammer them all at the same level.

Wind your yellow string around the triangles to be the flames of the candles.  Use the teal string to fill in the shapes of the candle.  A darker color string can go on the edges to outline the candles.

Display for 8 days!  It might even be fun to wind the string around each flame each night, but you do you. Don’t forget to check out the 10 DIY Menorah ideas over on DIY Network.  P.S. I’ve got another one  Toilet Paper Roll Menorah.
