When your kid looses their first tooth you better be prepared with an adorable pillow. Everyone knows the tooth fairy flies right over houses that use store bought pillows or just wrap teeth in a sheet of toilet paper. OK, no she doesn’t BUT she probably gives more money to kids with adorable potato stamped no-sew felt tooth pillows.

Plus if your kid is old enough they can make this handmade felt pillow themselves. Potato stamping is such a fun kids craft (leave the potato carving to a parent). Any craft project that can get kids off their screens and into some paint is ok by me.

This post was originally a sponsored post for I Love to Create where I was given free supplies and compensated. However, I’d make a homemade potato stamped pillow anyway so all opinions are my own.
SUPPLIES
– Craft felt – magenta, orange & aqua
– Tulip Soft Fabric Dye – White
– Paint brush
– Potato
– Tulip Soft Fabric Paint – Black and White
– Batting for pillow
– Carving knife
– Fabric Fusion Glue
– Scissors
– Clothespins
– Ruler
– Scribbles Paint – Teal
– Sponge
– Paper towels

Step 1
Cut your potato in half. Take one of the halves and draw the outline of a tooth with a pen or knife. Next, cut out the excess around the tooth shape. Remember what you want to show up in paint you leave raised. Blot your stamp with paper towels to absorb excess moisture.

Step 2
Instead of a stamp pad you will be using a fabric paint filled sponge. Squirt a bunch of white paint onto the sponge. Lay out the teal and pink felt on a flat surface. One tooth at a time stamp a pattern onto both sheets of felt.

Step 3
Once the paint has dried use fabric glue to attach the two pieces of felt together. Leave a hole for inserting the batting once the glue has dried. Also make your glue seam about 1″ in from the edges so that you can fringe the felt.

Step 4
When the glue has dried stuff your pillow. After stuffing glue the hole you left open closed and secure with clothes pins until dry. Once the glue and the paint are dry use scissors to cut the edges into strips for a fringed effect.

Step 5
Cut a small pocket shape from the yellow felt and stamp with tooth potato. Feel free to embellish with features and even faux stitching around the edges. Glue 3 sides down to pillow leaving the top open as a pocket for the tooth.
All that is left to do is put a tooth in the pocket and wait for the riches to pour in!
