I go to a lot of parties – adults, kids, holiday themed and more. I feel like I host just as many parties as I attend. Sometimes they are over the top lavish productions and other times they are just playdates with a little something extra. Whether I am attending or hosting I like to be prepared. This is where Tuesday Morning comes in.
I’ve learned a thing or two during my party days. Below is my top five tips staying on top of your party game. Whether you are an aspiring hostess with the mostess of just the chauffeur for your kids and their busy social schedules this list is a must read.
1) ALWAYS KEEP CUTE WRAPPING PAPER ON HAND
I am sucker for cute wrapping paper. I have a whole closet full. I’m partial to vintage wrapping paper, but there are tons of cute new papers too. Having the best wrapped gift in the pile is something I pride myself on.
2) KEEP A GIFT CLOSET
Save yourself a trip to the store each time you are invited to a party and keep gifts at hand. When I find something cute and clever at a good price I snap it up and stick it away. There is always a party on the horizon so I know it will get used and that way I can avoid the last minute scramble of running out for a gift.
Taking the extra hour to add a handful of details to your shindig makes it that much more memorable. 5 minutes, a hot glue gun and a walk down the scrapbook aisle took plain leftover paper cups to an all new level.
4) EVERYTHING TASTES BETTER ON CUTE PLATES
Mini frozen quiche bought in bulk never tasted better than when served on a cute plate with a coordinating napkin. I never know when I am going to have a house full of kids over for a swim or a gaggle of girlfriends over for wine – either way I like to be prepared.
5) CRAFTS ARE THE GIFTS THAT KEEP ON GIVING
Whether I am hosting small children or middle-aged women I have crafts on hand. Just recently I sat around a fancy cheese plate with 3 other women doodling on plastic Easter eggs. Most everyone loves arts and crafts when given the opportunity. Not everyone is given that opportunity. Tuesday Morning not only has great craft supplies for me, they have tons for my kids. Small kits at a $1.99 a pop keep my kids busy on rainy days. Giving all in one kits as a gift is great because everything the recipient needs is in the box. They make great party favors too!
