Indie Craft Documentary

Unless you have been living under a rock you have heard of the Indie Craft Documentary. Being shot by Michaela O’Herlihy & Faythe Levine (Flying Fish Designs & Art vs. Craft). These ladies have been going all over the country shooting different crafters for their documentary I for one have been interviewed for the film at Stitch here in Austin and The Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. Here is a little excerpt written by the ladies to explain their cause…

“The new wave of craft is an emerging movement of artists, crafters and designers working in traditional and non-traditional mediums and methodologies to forge a new economy, lifestyle and community.”

“This new movement is influenced by the history and techniques of traditional handiwork, modern aesthetics, politics, feminism and art. The new wave of craft is a marriage of your grannies handi-work, punk and d.i.y.. We will be spending the next 7 months touring craft fairs, studios, galleries and boutiques We will speak with organizers, curators, cultural theorists, historians and the crafters themselves, documenting the new wave of craft so that we can give our watchers a thorough overview of this new art movement sweeping the nation.”

Needless to say we need to help support these ladies and their tremendous cause. They are able to shoot the documentary based on donations made at their website and through their Etsy store. Crafty peeps are invited to donate and buy from their store to help support the cause. I wanted to give you a heads up that some one of a kind Naughty Secretary Club jewelry was just added to their store. So buy a Strawberry Ring or a Buddha necklace and all the profits go to help this awesome cause.
