Here I am just leisurely posing with one of my many Halloween trees and my co-worker Bri the cat. This is not just any old Halloween tree, this is a Halloween tree dedicated entirely to the Teal Pumpkin Project. Have you seen all those teal pumpkins at the store? Well they are not just for looks, they are to let kids with food allergies know that there is something safe for them there when they are trick-or-treating. As a mom of a kid with a peanut allergy I decided to go big or go home with the theme this year.

Over on the Treetopia Blog (sponsored link – I am their brand ambassador) I first shared my Teal Pumpkin Project Halloween Tree. Sure there are traditional ornaments in orange and purple among these black branches, but the DIY teal pumpkins are what really pops. Some pumpkins are more intricate craft projects and others are as easy as putting some stickers on a teal ornament.

I found that ready made craft kits at the store were perfect for this project. Sure these jack-o-lantern faces from the craft store came with an orange pompom to adorn but I saved those for another day and transformed plain blue Christmas ornaments into something special.

There are teal pumpkins outside of my house too for the trick-or-treaters to see (like 15 of them actually) but I wanted to remind my son inside the house that I am thinking of him. This is a tree that is as much for him as it is for me. (Guess that means I need to decorate a Minecraft or America’s Got Talent tree for my daughter).

Teal pumpkins are not the only thing that makes this tree special. As I always say – the devil is in the details. You can make these black and white striped pumpkins easily with washi tape. That spider web tree skirt is no-sew. Paint pens helped create the Witchy Woman Ornaments. Don’t let Christmas have all the kitschy Fabric and Sequin Covered Ornament fun – use the same technique in Halloween colors. Larger DIY Teal Pumpkins nestle perfectly into branches. The more teal pumpkins and one of a kind touches to a tree the better.
