You know some people march on Washington and others march on Burbank for equally valid causes. I’m talking about Kathy Cano Murillo and her one woman campaign to make Ellen Degeneres realize that glitter is hers and everyone else’s friend. Apparently Ellen is not a fan of the glitter and has made that quite clear. She made some negative comments on air about glitter and Kathy who sparkles 24 hours a day with flecks of glitter took it personally. After filming episodes of Craft Lab with Kathy and having the woman behind Hot Pink Pistol and all it’s glitterliscious glory as my sister I feel personally effected by these defaming comments that Ellen made. Do you think Kathy is going to sit back and let these anti-glitter comments get tossed around? Hell no! She and a bunch of her crafty friends are marching their tooshes down to Ellen DeGeneres’ Burbank studio tomorrow and having themselves a Safe Sparkle Rally. If you are in the greater Los Angeles area and have a deep rooted love of all things sparkly, I beg you to join them. Here are the details straight from the Crafty Chica herself….

Ellen wants all glitter banned!
I LOVE Ellen and was heartbroken when she started dissing glitter on her show because it is messy and gets everywhere. She even went on a jumbotron on Hillary Clinton’s press rally and asked if she would ban glitter if Hills became our next Prez. I’ve blogged about it and sent letters to her explaining all the different kinds of glitters.
I want us crafters to educate Ellen and let her know about the many “safe sparkle” alternatives out there. We could help her choose the right glitter for her, so she will stop judging all glitter the same. It is LOOSE glitter she hates, so her fans need to know to send her other kinds of sparkle. Ellen is a sparkling chica, she deserves glitter that suits her!
OK…I know glitter won’t be banned, but I thought it would be fun if all of us crafters stepped up with “safe sparkle” alternatives. I think Ellen would get a kick out of it and maybe even come outside to meet us!
Mucha gracias (holds scissors over heart in respect)!
PEACE, LOVE, & GLITTER!!

So there you have it. If are in the Burbank, CA area tomorrow around noon do it not just for glitter and not just for Kathy, do it for our country. Crafters and kindergartners around America need glitter. A world without sparkle is a world I frankly just don’t want to live in.
