Do you start putting away your Christmas decorations before or after New Year’s Eve? In my case I change my Christmas tree into a New Year’s Eve tree by rearranging my Christmas decorations to be New Year’s Eve decorations! I’m not saying redecorate the entire house but with a few strategic ornament moves your tree can be the perfect photo back ground, ball drop hot spot or place to pour the bubbly.

I started with my silver tree that as of yesterday was covered in Christmas. I took out all traces of Santa and replace with all the silver, gold and clear ornaments I could get my hands on. NO I DID GET MORE ORNAMENTS OUT – I just stole those colored ornaments from the other trees around my house I was getting ready to put away. Look at me avoiding those trips up to the attic just a little bit longer.
In this episode of DIY This With Jennifer Perkins I talk about this tree and more ways to get your NYE on. Seriously this shelf was head to toe ho, ho, ho just hours before this video was filmed. What I’m saying is that with a little shelf styling and slide of ornament hand you can be ready to toast in the New Year in no time.
Not just the big tree, I moved all my small silver and gold tabletop trees to the etagere for a glittery forest. Again these are not trees I got down just for this vignette, these are trees that were already out and about. A few other switch outs like brass unicorn bookends, metallic statues and sparkly quartz crystals complete the look.

Bowls of ornaments are a SUPER QUICK AND EASY way to stretch your decor. I just so happened to have this adorable zodiac bowl on hand but anything in the metallics family would work. Check out my Etsy store The Huntress Gatherer for more fun vintage bowls.

It should come as no surprise to you that this is not my first time at the New Year’s Eve rodeo. Country Living Magazine has a round-up of some cute trees, including my 2015 NYE tree. More recently I hosted a New Year’s Eve Vision Board Party that of course included a tree. Notice that all 3 trees are metallic.

I’ve been known to change out my books to match my decor. Luckily I have a LOT of books to choose from so finding a few with gold and silver spines was not an issue. Even my fish Goldie and Lapis look festive with disco ball ornaments perched on top of their tanks.

Do you decorate a New Year’s Eve tree? Will you now after seeing this post? It does not have to be overly complicated just stick with a metallic theme and use what you already have on hand.
