Even though Christmas is over no one is in a big hurry to start taking down decorations this week. It took you so long to get that tree up, why not enjoy it a bit longer? Like all the way into January. With a few easy steps you can turn your Christmas tree into a New Years Eve tree – the perfect centerpiece for ringing in the new year.
Any tree will work, but nothing says NYE like a champagne gold tree (check out my silver NYE tree too). First things first remove all overt signs of Christmas from the tree. Pack up Santa and his elves but solid colored ornaments, tinsel and stars can stay.
I bought a cheap and easy (affiliate link) New Year’s Eve party in a bag plus colored champagne flutes to decorate my NYE tree. Adorable as decorations, but even better if you are having a NYE party. Guests can just cruise by the tree to grab a favor or glass!
It’s all about the tree topper. I used a pair of (Affiliate link) New Year’s Eve Glasses, a tree topper from Christmas and some NYE party horns. I tend to make my tree toppers look like a Bob Mackie dress made for Cher and Vegas, but if that is wrong I don’t want to be right.
Now that wasn’t hard was it? I never said you were going to decorate an all new tree head to toe. Use what you already have out and are avoiding putting into the attic. Oh did I mention this tree was also featured on Country Living Magazine? So you know it’s got to be good! Stretch those decorations out as long as you can and then after that turn your Christmas tree into a Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day tree. It can be done, I know from personal experience 😉
