What is a girl to do with all those summer succulents when decorating for fall? You can’t just kick them to the curb or hide them away until warmer days. The obvious answer is to update their pots to fit your holiday theme. In this case, Halloween.

Small pots and craft paint are under a dollar a pop so really you should be making themed pots for all major holidays, heck even small holidays. Plus this spilling paint on purpose thing is really fun.

Check out the Rainbow Paint Planters I did. It was way so calming and cheaper than yoga or a therapist to dump paint. All you do is put your pot on a drop cloth of some kind and spill paint. While the first color is still wet and runny spill more paint right into the center so that it mixes and mingles and drips down the sides.

Experiment with different colors and different pots. Since terra-cotta is so orange I went with black and white paint primarily. Wouldn’t green and purple be awesome? My favorite Halloween color combo is orange, hot pink, black and white. Yummers!

So no need to hide all traces of summer this Halloween, just give them a subtle holiday transformation. Last year I decorated my cactus like mini Christmas trees so anything is possible.
What fun pots – and what a great way to update your decor for the season! Thank you for sharing, Jennifer, and for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party. Hope to see you again this week. Have a great week ahead!
Super easy and great results…that is a win win! I cannot wait to try one out too.
